IDCC Condition Update and Status

Image
Generally speaking, all of the club's facilities "dodged a bullet" when Irma turned westward and made landfall in the Keys and near Naples instead of in our area of Island Dunes. We did however sustain significant damage with broken trees and debris on all holes, in and around the club entrance, parking lot, tennis courts, pro shop and bridges.   A number of the older and larger broken trees will have to be removed by professionals after being on IDCC property for decades. At this point we expect the tennis hard courts to be open Monday September 25, two soft courts open on Wednesday September 27 and the remainder as soon as we can get more material delivered and installed.  The golf course will reopen on or around Tuesday October 3rd so that cleanup can be concluded and we may finish the replacement project for the bridge between the 4th and 5th holes. That work was underway when the storm hit and caused a delay of at least two weeks or more. A special "shout out

Smooth Transition from Sod to Bunker to Green  Left of the Green Here are pics of the newly-filled bunker  Another Angle, that's a Perfect Seam from Sod to Green The Story Behind This New Bunker When the course architect recommended a new sand trap on #8  we were concerned about changing the original Joe Lee design. After researching as many par 3 holes over water we could find that Joe designed we found one over water 160 yards long with bunker to the left and asked for that to be duplicated on our #8 hole. Everyone likes the look and, as we believe our course is likely the only executive course Joe's ever designed ,we want everyone to know that we're going to great lengths to adhere to the originality of Joe Lee's design principles.
